Burleson Police Department Active Investigation
Burleson Police Department Active Investigation Officer Shot

The following is a statement released by the Burleson Police Department:

At 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, a Burleson Police officer made a traffic stop in the 1100-block is Hillside Drive. During the traffic stop the officer was shot multiple times. The officer was transported to John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth. His condition is unknown. More information to follow. Suspects in the officer shooting have not been apprehended. Police are canvassing the area. If you know any information or see anything suspicious please contact 911.

The 1100 block of Hillside drive is located almost directly behind the Burleson High School, and merely a few minutes away from the Steam Middle School as well.

So, having individuals actively shooting out their window at Burleson police officers is a danger to not only our officers, but residents and family members as well.

This is a developing story and several details are still coming in. We will follow up and publish information as it is confirmed.

While some might know the officer and his family, Chief Cordell and BPD have chosen to not release that information just yet.

More details to come.
