Officer Evans is very mild mannered (when not busting the bad guys/girls) of Burleson. But she did mention that she does not like awards or accolades. In addition to her humble spirit, Officer Evans displays the attributes which are truly exemplary of Burleson’s great City of Character

Burleson Police Chief Cordell swearing in Officer Evans

Evans has Lived in Burleson since 1997 and is a Burleson High School 2008 graduate. She served our country in the U.S. Navy for 10 years. She is also a volunteer firefighter in Briar Oaks and was employed as a security officer for Texas Health Hospital prior to joining BPD.

Officer Evans was nominated this quarter for her compassion and service to a family following a tragic event.

Officer Evans was requested to provide a death notification to the parents of their 24 year old son. This was Officer Evan’s first notification where the family was not aware of the passing. She could have met with his parents alone, but instead she proactively involved Victims Assistance to help the family with resources. The deceased was in the military and Officer Evans offered her services to also notify his command, which they accepted. Therefore, Officer Evans also personally notified the Army Guard commanding officer. Officer Evans also brought some of her own military coins and items to the family and attended the funeral.

Burleson Police Chief Cordell congratulating Officer Evans

The uncle posted a commendation to the Burleson Police Department about how giving Officer Evans and Victims Assistance was to not only notify his parents, but also assist them in letting other family members know of the loss. Telling family members about the loss of a loved one is one of the most difficult things to do, but Officer Evans really showed up in a way that left an impact.

Officer Evans was also recognized earlier in the year for helping an older gentleman repair his mirror with the help of a citizen that brought some supplies. Officer Evans is one that just does extra to help others.
